Next Chapter of Physical Intelligence in Canada
A student-led engineering team building Canada's first full-scale bipedal humanoid robot at the University of Toronto.
About
UTHR is the University of Toronto Humanoid Robotics team. We are a multidisciplinary team of engineers, computer scientists, and designers building Canada's first full-scale bipedal humanoid robot from the ground up.
Founded in 2026, we work at the intersection of mechanical design, embedded systems, and machine learning. We are open to students across all disciplines and experience levels.

Structural design, actuator integration, and the full physical architecture of the humanoid platform. From skeletal geometry to surface finish and manufacturing.
Power architecture, PCB design, motor drivers, and the embedded hardware backbone that brings the robot to life and keeps it operating reliably.
ROS 2, perception pipelines, and the high-level autonomy stack running on onboard NVIDIA Jetson compute. Building the brain of the robot.
Whole-body dynamics, balance, gait generation, and the low-level control loops that make stable bipedal locomotion possible in real hardware.
Sponsorship acquisition, financial operations, industry partnerships, and the strategic relationships that fund the team's hardware and operations.
Applied research in locomotion, manipulation, and physical intelligence. Connecting the team's work to the broader academic and industry robotics community.
Partners
We are building something that has never been done at the student level in Canada. We are looking for industry partners who want to be part of it from the very beginning.
If your organization wants early visibility into Canada's most ambitious student robotics project, we want to hear from you.
